Ambhranee Yakkundi

Ambhranee Yakkundi, 17, started learning Bharatanatyam at age four from her aunt, Smt. Gargi Panchangam, who groomed young Ambhranee for three years before her move to India. In 2012, Ambhranee commenced her tutelage under Smt. Mythili Kumar and the Abhinaya Dance Company. Ambhranee has performed in annual student dance recitals as well as in performances in several Bay Area venues and occasions. Since early 2020, she has performed under the direction of Smt. Malavika Walia in Abhinaya's Junior Dance Company, including performances at the San Francisco International Arts Festival. A Hindustani vocal music pupil of her father Nachiketa Yakkundi, Ambhranee has performed in several solo and group concerts in the US and India. In addition, Ambhranee is a student of the harmonium maestro Vivek Datar, under whose guidance she has performed in concerts as a solo artist as well as an accompanying instrumentalist.


Ambhranee is in the graduating class of 2023 from Monta Vista High School in Cupertino. At school she is an avid enthusiast and participant in varied activities of the arts.


Ambhranee's passions include cooking elaborate meals, and baking exotic delicacies, both of which she inherits from her mother Poonam. Aside from being a voracious reader of multiple genres of books, Ambhranee is a devoted admirer of the movies, and a bona fide fan of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, about which she revels in spirited discussions with her older brother Rochan.
